When one is heartbroken, such as you were at this particular point in time, they make rash decisions that could change the course of one's life. When we truly love someone, we cannot be held responsible for what actions we may take. This was one of those times.
You sat on the floor in your small bathroom, unable to stop the tears that fell from your placid (color) orbs. Sobs racked your body as you clenched your chest; the pain so deep it felt like your heart was going to burst from your chest. Trembling, you forced yourself to your feet but soon found that your legs grew heavy, forcing you to slump against the sink in the bathroom. You sobbed heavily into your arms, tears staining your cheeks and forearms. You knew your reactions were childish, to say the least, but the pain that consumed you was more than you could handle. Anyone who knew you, knew you were a very fragile being in the best sense of the word. Chancing a glance in the mirror, you confronted the thing you hated more than anything in this world. Your reflection.
You couldn’t help the icy glare that adorned your face. It wasn’t fair. What was wrong with you? You knew the simple answer, because you had told yourself it a million times. You weren’t good enough. You never were, and you never will be.
He had told you many times throughout your relationship that you were silly. That he would always love you no matter what, and that nothing in this world or the next would ever change that. Oh, how wrong he was. And you were just foolish enough to belive it. Pathetic.
You eyes scanned the outline of your face, which had looked slightly sunken in from days without food or nutrition of any sort. Your eyes trailed your features and down your neck until your eyes fell upon a mark on your neck. A fresh set of tears formed in your eyes and your chest erupted in pain once again. You closed your eyes, clenching your teeth in a desperate attempt to keep your sanity. But by this time you were beyond help. You knew that. And from that point your anguish turned to anger. A burning anger you had never felt before in your entire life. You opened your eyes and upon seeing your reflection once again, you lashed out at your other self. The moment your fist connected to the mirror, it shattered into a million pieces with a sickening crash. You stared at the broken pieces of glass that laid on the counter and in the sink, your eyes wide with shock.
Like I stated before, when you are in such emotional distress, a person tends not to think straight. Your mind was hazy, and at the time the only thing you could think of was the pain that filled your chest. The hatred and contempt you felt, not only for the man that had broken you so bad, but for yourself. You hated yourself more than you’d ever hated anyone or anything in your entire life. Because you allowed someone in. You allowed them to break down the barrier that protected you from the world. And you let him destroy who you were.
Your hands trembled as you picked up a piece of glass from the counter. The glass was sharp and dug into the palm of your hand, instantly drawing a line of blood from your flesh. For the most part your mind had been blank. The only thing passing through your head was the need to stop everything. To make the pain go away. You knew fully well that this alone wouldn’t be enough. Your dull lifeless (color) eyes searched the medican cabinet and upon finding what you were looking for, you smiled a wicked smile.
You closed your eyes as you sat in the bathtub. Although you were going to follow through with this, there was no need to make a mess. You turned on the water and let the cool liquid wash away your tears. With a slight grimace, you placed the piece of glass you held in your hand to your wrist, and with a quick jerk of the hand you opened your eyes.
The wound was a vertical cut that ran along the main vein in your wrist. It was deep and almost instantly began to bleed. You felt the crimson liquid that had once been your life force spill out onto the cold porcelain of the bathtub, mixing with the water that lay in the tub. In some odd sense, you felt at peace. In the moment that you placed the blade to your wrist again, a calm washed over you. All of your pain melted away with your blood and water and disappeared down the drain.
A single tear fell, cascading down your cheek in blissful peace. You opened your eyes, pressing your back firmly against the base of the tub. You repeated your actions with the glass over both of your wrists and forearms until they were nothing but a bloody mess. Only one person was on your mind... Hiei... the only glimpse of happiness you had ever found in this chaotic world. You glanced at the empty pill bottles that were around you, then at the bottle that lay forgotten in the bottom of the bathtub.
'If I'm going to do this...there's no coming back..' you though bitterly to yourself. Your once beautiful outfit had been covered in blood, your blood. How could he do this, to you of all people? You loved him; dear gods did you love him. He had left you, shattering your fragile heart beyond repair. You opened your eyes and couldn’t help remembering the day where everything seemed to go wrong….
~Flash Back~~
Everyone had decided to go to the beach, as sort of a celebration for your latest victory. You set your bag on one of the beds and walked over to the balcony that had over looked the pool. Below were many people, laughing and splashing in the water. You giggled and waved to Kayko and Yusuke below you. They smiled and yelled your name, waving back.
"Hiei!" you yelled as you leaned over the edge of the railing, waving slightly. He only glared at you. He hadn't glared at you since you had met two years ago. You were taken aback for a brief moment, but decided to leave it alone for now. You went over to your bag and pulled out your bathing suit, going into the bathroom to put it on. It only took you a few minutes. After you wrapped your towel around your waist and went downstairs to meet the others. They all greeted you with smiles and laughter. Everyone except Hiei, who wouldn't even look at you. You went to say something to him, but Yukina grabbed your hand, running off towards the pool.
~Hour Later~
You walked into the room that you and Hiei were sharing. You hadn't been able to spend a single second with him all day. Not that he gave you much of a chance. Every time you had gone to kiss him, or even hug him, he would growl and push you away. You had no idea what had gotten into the stubborn Demon, but you intended to figure it out. You walked past Hiei and shut the balcony door. He looked at you for a moment then quickly looked away. You went into the bathroom and took a quick shower, putting on your black silk pajamas. Hiei loved your pajamas, but tonight he just ignored you.
"Hiei, what's the matter, love?" you said, taking a seat next to him. He grimaced as you touched his shoulder. You quickly withdrew your hand and set it on the bed next you.
"Hiei-"
" Save it, you stupid girl. Its over, I never want to see you again." He said quickly. Getting up he walked over to the balcony doors and pushed them open.
"But...I thought-"
"What? That I loved you? How could I ever love a irritating mortal girl like you?" he snorted and stared at you for a second, then disappeared.
~End Flash Back~
It wasn’t even the day after that that he showed up at Genkia’s temple with another on his arms, to everyone’s shock and surprise. Everyone was so engrossed with Hiei’s new fling that they didn’t even ask you what happened or asked you if you were okay.
Not that you blamed them, she was quite beautiful.
"Nobody would miss me.." you rationalized as the glass dropped from your weak hand. Just then the phone began to ring. The sound echoed in your ears, slowly driving you insane.
'Stop it..."You mentally scolded the phone, too weak to talk, hell, even move. You eyelids drooped slightly, and when it rang again you were brought back from the brink of sleep. But none of that mattered. Soon you would be in a land of peace, only one person on your mind. Hiei, and all the words that he had ever said to you singing merrily to the echoing rings.
"Hiei..." you whispered lightly, almost praying for him to come and rescue you. Your head began to fall, growing heavier with somnolence with every passing minute. You opened your eyes, one last time, to see a male figure running towards you. You smiled softly, closing your eyes, falling into a deep slumber, hoping never to wake.

" Hubert, look at that~! “ a woman in her late seventies squealed catching you off guard. You stopped and looked up, causing you to let go of Hiei’s arm. “Remember when we were that young and in love.” she sighed happily lost in memories past. The little gray haired man next to her smiled lightly as she hugged his arm tightly.
“Of course Mabel, quite the handsome couple they are.” He replied nodding in your direction. You couldn’t help the small blush that crept across your cheeks, a cheesy but happy smile crossing your face.
“Miss, would you mind coming here from a moment?” The older gentlemen said motioning towards you. You looked over at Hiei, who just stared at you for a moment, before walking over to the older couple. The woman looked at you, a bright smile on her face.
“May I help you?” you said with a polite smile of your own.
“ If you don’t mind a nosey old woman asking, how long?” She said taking her husbands hand within hers.
“ Excuse me?”
“You and your gentleman friend. How long have you two been together?” The older gentleman stated. You cheeks heated up. Was it really that obvious?
“A year next Wednesday.” you murmured through your embracement. The older couple laughed heartedly.
“Ah young love~!” The older gentleman cooed.
“Is it really that obvious?” you said, you blush deepening.
“Only to us old romantics dear.” The woman said.
“(Name).” Hiei said in a soft, but demanding voice.
“Coming! I’m sorry, but I have to go.” You bowed slightly.
“One more thing. We love to take pictures of pretty things. Would you mind?” The old man said, positioning to his camera. You were taken back for a moment as you looked over at Hiei. He grunted slightly as he shoved his hands into his pockets.
“Of course your gentleman friend is invited too.” Mabel smiled. Your eyes brightened up as you ran over to Hiei and grabbed his arm.
“Please Hiei?” You said hugging his arm close to your chest. Hiei blinked a light blush dusting his cheeks.
“Hn….Silly woman.” he muttered shaking his head. You smiled wide and kissed him softly on the cheek.
“Thank you baby.” You murmured close to his ear.
CLICK
You groaned lightly as you felt yourself being pulled back from the edge of sleep. Your body was sore and stiff . Everything just felt wrong. Blinking your eyes open, you stared up into a stark white ceiling.
‘What the hell, where am I?” You thought. You tried to sit up but your body felt heavy. You tried to lift your arm, to push you dirty hair from your face, but was stopped when something tugged on your arm. You let out a soft cry as the IV in your arm pulled out. The machine you were hooked up to beeped loudly in protest Your hazy (color) orbs scanned the room quickly your mind still groggy.
“What-Where the hell am I!” You yelled irritated.
“Oh dear lord, what a mess!” Someone said as they scurried into the room. You more than glared at the woman in white. She jumped slightly as grasped the fabric above her chest.
“Oh god! (Name)-Chan?” she stated in a bit of shock. Your eyes turned from the nurse to look around.
‘Where am I? How long have I been asleep?” Your sharp eyes turned on her again. She shrunk back.
“ You are at St. Jude’s hospital and you have been in and out of it for a little over a week. We thought we had lost you.” She said, her eyes misty with tears.
“How did I get here?”
“ A young man with red hair called the paramedics after he found you in your apartment. He gave you CPR until they arrived. If it wasn’t for him, you’d be dead now.” She approached you and you glared a deep seeded hatred seeping through your veins.
“He should have let me die.” You more than growled. The nurse seemed taken back.
“W-what?” She stammered.
“He should have just fucking let me die." you said a bit more forcefully. The nurse backed up again.
“I-I should let the doctor know that you are awake…” She murmured backing out the door.
Once she was out of the door you swung your legs around and stood up. Your legs shook from weakness, but you forced yourself to walk. The only thing driving you forward was the pure rage you felt. How the hell did he know?! Why did he stop you! You made it to the door, running on pure adrenalin.
‘Now, how to get out of here without getting caught.’ you thought as you slipped from the room. You stayed close to the wall and stayed low. You were close to the elevator when someone called out your name.
“Miss (Last Name)!” A doctor yelled
“Shit!” You panicked. Looking around you caught sight of the fire stairs. You looked around quickly before dashing up the stairs.
“(Name) stop!” He yelled again, but you kept running until you reached the roof. Swinging the door open you ran out. A gust of fresh air whipped your hair back. You were pulled back to reality when the door slammed shut. Your eyes quickly scanned the roof for any escape, only finding one.
z88;
“Kurama, do you think that (Name) will be alright?” Kayko said as they began to walk towards the front doors of the hospital.
“I do not know Kayko, she was bleeding quite badly when I found her . When the paramedics showed up they said that heart wasn’t beating.” Kurama sighed lightly, running his fingers through his crimson locks.
“Shit. What in the seven hells would cause her to do something so stupid?” Yusuke murmured.
“I don’t know Yusuke.” He said. “They said that all we can do is wait until she wakes." Suddenly a horde of people ran from the hospital, stopping the group dead in their tracks.
“What the -”
“Oh my god, (Name)!” Kayko screamed, clasping her hand over her mouth as tears pooled in her eyes. Everyone looked at Kayko, then to whatever she was looking at. Kurama’s eyes widened in horror.
“Shit!” Yusuke yelled as he began to run into the hospital, the others close behind.
“Leave me alone!” You screamed as a few doctors and nurses crowded the roof. Tears filled your (color) eyes and began to cascade down your cheeks.
“You don’t want to do this (Name), you have so much to live for!” One of the doctors called as he reached out to grab your arm. You swiped it away and backed up farther, your feet resting against the edge of the roof.
“F-fuck you! How the hell would you know what I want!?” You looked around, your eyes as wild as an animal caught in a trap. “ You don’t know shit, none of you do!” You cried.
“ Miss don’t move!” The doctor yelled. You shook your head wildly as you took another step back.
“G-get away from me!” You gasped lightly as your foot slid out from under you. You heard someone scream, their voice piercing through the air. You looked up one last time to see the figures of your beloved friends. Your eyes widened as you felt the earth beneath your feet disappeared.
“I’m sorry…” You whispered as you began to fall.
You closed your eyes as the feeling of weightlessness filled your body. You could vaguely hear the cries and screams of the people around you, but for the most part everything seemed to blur into one sound. The feeling of falling left a peaceful feeling with in you.
Then something struck you. This was it. You were really going to die. And there was no coming back from this. With that realization, your eyes snapped open and panic filled your heart; just in time to see someone’s hand reach down. You cried out when the hand wrapped around your wrist, jerking you to a rough stop.
“(Name)!” Yusuke screamed down. You looked up and stared in both wonder and shock. Kurama strained to keep a hold of your wrist as he leaned down, holding onto you for dear life. Yusuke was holding onto Kurama’s mid section, keeping him from falling off of the edge. Kurama grunted as he peered deep into your eyes, angry determination shining in his eyes.
“Don’t you dare let go.” He grunted as he grabbed your arm with his other hand. You nodded your head slightly as you wrapped your free hand around his wrist. He grunted lightly as he fought against gravity. It seemed like forever before you felt the safety of solid ground beneath you again.
One you were safety back over the edge you let out a straggled cry as you wrapped your arms around the poor red haired youth. Not even a moment later you felt a n abundance of arms wrap around you.
“Christ, you scared us half to death.” Yusuke muttered, hugging you as if your ( and his) life depended on it.
“Don’t ever do that to us again!” Kayko cried, hugging your waist. Kurama sighed softly as he rested his head on top of yours, one of his arms wrapping around your shoulder.
“If you ever scare me like that again, I will kill you myself.” He murmured. You couldn’t help but laugh lightly. Your laughter wafted through the group, and although they were all very concerned and upset, they couldn’t help but smile in return. You were safe, for now.

“I am sorry young man, but (Name)-san isn’t going anywhere.” a man in his late forties stated, pushing is black rim glasses up the bridge of his nose.
“ Your doctors forced Miss (Name) off of the ledge. Upon her acceptance into this hospital I was under the impression that (Name) would be safe under your care. I no longer feel that that is the case.” Kurama bit back, his green eyes burning with spite. without turning, he handed you a change of cloths, to which you gratefully took.
“Look Mr. Minamino, I understand your concerns regarding (Name)’s safety, and I can assure you we are looking into what happened on the roof. But it is not safe for her to be removed from the care of the hospital. She is very sick and requires mental help.”
“ I do not think that you understand Mr. Tussah, you will release Miss (Name) to me or I will have my lawyers sue you and your hospital for neglect and for holding a patient against their will.”
“Your bluffing.” Kurama didn’t respond. Mr. Tussah sighed deeply.
“ Fine, we were unable to get a hold of Mrs. (Last Name)-” you scoffed.
“Figures…” You muttered, crossing your arms. Both men sent you a cross look, before continuing on.
“- so I will only release her to someone of age.”
“What the shit is that!?” you cried, standing to your feet.
“(Name).” Kurama warned.
“ No Shuichi, this is fucking bullshit! My mom doesn’t give two fucking shits if I rot in here and the only other kin I have don’t even know that I’m alive! I will be fucking damned if I am staying in this piece of shit hospital!” You clenched your fists. Wincing only slightly as pain began to fill your arms.
“ Stay calm or you will re-open your wounds.” Just as those words left his lips, blood began to stain the white cotton that covered your arms. Kurama sighed heavily and pushed you back onto the bed.
“Well those are the conditions of your release. I will get a nurse in here to tend to your wounds.” Mr. Tussah bowed slightly before leaving the room.
Glowering you sat on the bed, your (color) eyes glued the blue linen of the blankets. Oh how you hated them. You hated the doctors, you hated Kurama for saving you, you even hated yourself for getting yourself into this situation.
“You know if you keep staring at the bed like that, your going to burn a hole in it.” You looked up to meet the brown eyes of Yusuke.
“Fuck you.”
“Sorry, I’m taken.” He smiled like the cocky bastard he was. You growled, turning your face to the window.
“Excuse me,” A nurse said as she walked in. Her smile was sweet and innocent. You hated her more than anyone else. “-I’m here to tend to Miss (Name)’s wounds.” Making her way over to the bed, she carefully unbound your arms.
“Christ (Name).” Yusuke murmured, all hints of joking fading from his voice. You blinked your (color) eye’s and cast a sideways glance towards your arm. To say the flesh on your arm was mangled was an understatement.
“Fat luck that did me.” You growled, looking back out the window.
“What the hell is wrong with you!?” Yusuke yelled, causing everyone to jump.
“Why the hell do you even care?” You growled, your eyes never leaving their place.
“ Why the fuck do you think dumb ass!” Yusuke shouted back. “I care a-”
“ Don’t you dare say that!” You screamed, your eyes snapping back to meet the shocked one’s of Yusuke. “ Don’t you dare fucking say those words! You, like the rest of these fucking ingrates wouldn’t care if I died tomorrow! If, and I do mean IF, you did care, you would have asked me if I was okay! You would have shown some care about my feelings when that bitch showed up! But no, none of you people even spared a glance in my direction! All you cared about was who Hiei was bringing to his bed! Fuck you, both of you. God I wish you would have just let me die!” By now you were sobbing. The nurse looked from you, to your friends.
“ I should be going.” She said, making a hasty retreat. Once your arms were free from her grasp, you pulled your hands to your face.
“ I wish you would have just let me die.” You whispered, anguish falling from your voice.
“I-I.” Yusuke murmured. His eyes fell to the floor. You were right, at least slightly. Everyone just assumed that you would be alright. Throughout the whole ordeal you hadn’t shown pain or angst. Nothing. They had all thought if you were having a problem, you would come talk to them.
“Yusuke, may I please have a moment alone with (Name)?” Kurama’s voice was light and soft.
“Yeah, sure….” Yusuke stared at you for a moment before leaving to go check on Kayko.
After the door was shut and Kurama was alone with you, he couldn’t help as his gaze soften. You sat, alone and broken. He couldn’t imagine what you were feeling right now. In truth, he didn’t know what to do. He wanted to comfort you, to ease your pain. But he knew it was never that simple. Some things couldn’t be healed with words. Sighing lightly he made his way over to the bed. Sitting next to you, he wrapped his arms around your shoulders, tugging you softly so you rested against his body. Your body stiffened.
“I will get you out of here, I promise you that.” He spoke softly, his chin resting on the top of your head. “ Just please promise me you will never do this again.”
Your eyes widened as you felt small droplets hit the top of your head. Kurama….Was he crying? You pulled back and looked deep into Kurama’s jade eyes. You were shocked as a couple of tears fell from his eyes.
“Oh go- Please don’t cry!” You said, cupping his cheeks within your hands. Your thumbs brushed the tears away, your (color) orbs wide with shock.
“You scared me (Name).” He said, his eyes reflecting the pain he felt. “ I really thought I was going to loose you. When I found you in your house- your heart wasn’t beating (Name). Do you have any idea how that felt?”
A new found sense of guilt fell over you as your eyes fell to the bed. Your hands fell towards the bed, but before they fell completely Kurama’s hands wrapped around your much smaller ones.
“I am not trying to make you feel bad. But you have to understand. Sometimes we may not show that we care for one another, but you are a part of our family (Name). When you fell from the roof I really thought that Yusuke was going to jump after you. Lucky for him, and you, I was a bit faster. You are precious to us (Name) and any of us would give our lives to protect you. I do not know what is wrong with Hiei, but its his loss if he can not see how special you are.”
“Oh, Kurama!” You cried, hugging the boy tightly, sobbing into his shoulder.

The days in the hospital passed by agonizingly slow. The minutes felt like hours, hours felt like days, and the days felt like months. In truth it had only been a couple of days, but it felt a lot longer than that. Sighing, yet again, as the psych doctor waltzed into your room, you couldn’t help but glare. He began talking and you would just grunt every now and then pretending to listen.
You couldn’t help the slight anger you were feeling towards your so called friends. Ever since your touching moment with Kurama you hadn’t seen or heard from them. Part of you hoped that he was keeping his promise, but the other part of you, the dangerously broken part, said other wise.
“Are you listening to me (Name)?” the doctor said.
“Huh?” you blinked, causing the good ol doc to sigh.
“There are some people here to see you.” He repeated again.
“Oh.”
“Would you like to see them?”
“Why not?” you smiled. The doctor sighed again before walking out of the room. A moment later Kayko, Yusuke and Genkai walked in.
“Good marrow my dear ladies and gentle fish.” you said positioning yourself on the bed so you could look at the three of them.
“Hey (Name).” Kayko greeted, giving you a small hug in the process.
“ They have agreed to release you into my custody as of today under the conditions that you will be staying with me at my temple.” Genkai said, never to be the one to beat around the bush.
“Really?” Your eyes brightened up. She nodded. “Yes!” You pumped your fist into the air, but soon your enthusiasm wavered. “What about my mom?”
“Nobody’s been able to contact her.” Yusuke said, scratching the back of his head.
“Oh…” you looked down at your lap.
“Hey don’t worry about it!” Yusuke laughed, bouncing on the bed next to you, causing you to laugh as you bounced. “I’ll be right there with you.”
“Thanks…” You murmured.
“Alright, enough messing around. Get your things and lets go.” Genkai demanded. You just nodded your head and jumped to you feet. Your happy feeling dissipated once you learned who would be escorting you to the temple. Kurama waited out front with his car, and all though you loved the boy dearly, a lecture that you knew was coming, was anything but what you needed right now.
“Lets go.” He said as he put your things into his trunk. It had been just the two of you, the others in your group opting to ride with Yusuke. The ride for the most part was in an uncomfortable silence, You knew Kurama had something he wanted to say, but hesitated. Growling slightly, you crossed your arms.
“Come on Kura-Chan, what is it?” You said.
“I’m sure I don’t know what you mean.” His eyes never left the road.
“I’m not stupid, I know there is something bothering you.” Sighing heavily Kurama pulled off the side of the road.
“I know what he did to you (name), and I cant even imagin what you’ve been going through….I just want you to know that I am here for you.”
You looked up at him wide eyed, tears pooling in the cornors of your eyes. Kurama smiled softly as he grabbed your hand, pulling you over to him.
“You deserve so much better in this life little one. Someday Hiei will relies just exactly what he’s lost, and I pray for the both of you it will not be to late. Now, no more tears, he’s not worth them.”
You smiled up at Kurama and rubbed the tears from your eyes.
It hadn’t t taken you long after that to reach the temple, nor make your way up the long stairs to your temporary home.
z88;
By the time you reached the top of the stairs you were out of breath, but excited non the less. Yusuke helped you carry your thing to your room and then reluctantly left you to your own devices.
Throwing off your coat and kicking off your shoes you collapsed on the bed, sighing heavily. Although you seemed fine on the outside, a deep sense of numbness had replaced the part of your heart. Throwing your arm above your head you stared at the blank ceiling. And before you knew it you drifted off to sleep.
You didn’t know how long you had slept for, but when you awoke your body felt cold and ridgid. Outside you could hear laughter and happy chatter. As you got up to investigate what was going on a knock came on the door. You paused briefly before answering it. But being the impatient person she was, Botan opened the door first, catching you off guard. You cried out as you fell backwards, landing rather painfully on your ass.
“Owwww…” You groaned.
“Oh (Name)! I’m so sorry!” Botan said helping you to your feet.
“Hey no problem cuz.” You said rubbing your sore bum. The laughter outside grew, drawing your attentions back to the window. “Hey Botan, what’s going on out there?”
“Oh! Uh… Nothing.” She laughed scratching the back of her head.
“It doesn’t sound like nothing.” You half glared at her.
“Oh well….Hiei and Kasara came over…to announce their engagement…” she muttered the last part.
“Oh that’s nice.” You said apathetically walking back over to your bed to lay down. Before Botan could say anything else, Kurama stepped into the room.
“(Name) would you care to accompany me to the backyard for some food? You must be hungry.” He smiled softly. You cast a dull gaze at the man, and although you were trying to hide it, Kurama could read the expression on your face.
“I’m not very hungry,” you stated.
“Oh come on (name)! Yusuke is cooking!” Botan said in attempts to lift your mood. You sighed defeated and hulled yourself to your feet.
“That a girl!” Botan hugged you quickly before running out of the room. Kurama studied your face for a moment before taking your hand in his.
“Remember, I am here for you.” he smiled. You squeezed his hand tightly.
“Thank you Kurama.” You breathed out.
“My pleasure.” With that he led you out of the comfort of your room.
The party was being held in an open field next to the forest. You didn’t know if these silly demons and humans had a death wish or what, but then again you didn’t much care either. Everyone was there including Jin and his gang. How they had gotten permission to be there was beyond you, you just assumed it was because they were close friends with the group. Your hand never left Kurama’s as you walked out into the clearing, your eyes finally landing on Hiei’s new lover. She was a beautiful ebony skinned girl with dark color hair, her chocolate brown eyes playing nicely with her complexion. Kurama quickly pulled you into a hug as he heard the almost feral growl that accidentally fell from your lips.
“It’s going to be okay (name), any time you want to leave just let me know.”
You took in a few deep breaths, nodding your head.
~+~+ Hiei’s POV ~+~+
Hiei watched as (Name) was led into the party, her hand clasped tightly to the stupid foxes. He has thought he felt a familiar presence enter, but the last thing he had expected to see was (Name). something surged deep within his chest when the fox took (Name) in his arms in that tender way. He wanted (Name) to push the stupid fox away, to do anything but let him touch her. But she didn’t. And he didn’t know why, but the more the fox touched her, the angrier he got.

Kurama smiled softly as he let you go, running his fingers through your hair in the process. All you could do was smile faintly.
"I'll be fine Kura-chan, I promise." You whispered, moving from the fox's side.
You spent most of the afternoon hanging around the picnic table that had been filled with all sorts of food. You picked at some of the things on the table, but for the most part you weren’t hungry. You couldn’t shake the feeling that someone was watching you, so by chance you peered back over your shoulder.
Hiei hadn’t expected you to look when you did, and for a brief moment your eyes met. You could feel your heart breaking, but did your best to show no emotions when someone tapped on your shoulder, causing you to be pulled from your staring.
"Hello, I dont think we've been introduced yet, Im Kasara." You just stared at her blankly. Her dark skin shimmered in the mid afternoon sun, indicating that she had been playing in water. Her swim suit was a tasteless bikini that barely covered her. She extended her hand in greeting.
"(Name).." you said, shaking her hand. For a moment nothing happened as the two of you shared a look. Kasara seemed at a loss for words, and you tried your best to bite your tongue.
"Well it was nice meeting you!" She said, before turning to the group. You glared at her back as she moved away from you.
you sighed heavily. This was really the last thing you needed at the moment. She seemed nice, and that only made you angry. It hurt how easily you were replaced, and now being in the presence of the one that stole part of your heart was irritating.
"Kareokee time!" Kasara called in a sing song vice.
Kasara was the first to sing as everyone gathered around the make shift stage that had been set up. You really werent paying any attention to anything, lost in your own world, untill Botan called out your name.
“Come on, its your turn!”
You hadnt been one to sing in front of people, but somehow you had been shang highed into a performance. Scanning through the songs, you picked out one.
The music started slowly and all eyes were on you.
“I thought it was over, baby We said our goodbyes But I can't go a day without your face Goin' through my mind
In fact, not a single minute Passes without you in it Your voice, your touch, memories of your love Are with me all of the time
Let me let go, baby Let me let go If this is for the best Why are you still in my heart Are you still in my soul Let me let go
I talked to you the other day Looks like you make your escape You put us behind, no matter how I try I can't do the same
Let me let go, baby Let me let go It just isn't right I've been two thousand miles Down a dead-end road
Let me let go, darlin', won't you I just gotta know, yeah If this is for the best Why are you still in my heart Are you still in my soul Let me let go
The lights of this strange city are shinin' But they don't hold no fascination for me I try to find the bright side, baby But everywhere I look Everywhere I turn You're all I see
Let me, let me let go, baby, won't you Let me let go It just isn't right I've been two thousand miles Down a dead-end road
Oh, let me let go, darlin', won't you I just gotta know If this is for the best Why are you still in my heart Yeah, you're still in my soul, let me let go Let me let go, let me let go
Everyone stood (or sat) in compleat shock as you left the makeshift stage, a light blush dusting your cheeks. No one had expected you to actually sing, let alone that song. Your eyes met with Hiei’s for a brief moment. You could feel yourself loosing control of your emotions, so you quickly excused yourself.
You ran as fast as you could back to your room, ignoring the calls of protest from Yusuke and Kurama. Once you made it to your room you quickly shut the door, clicking the lock behind you. The moment the door was locked, you collapsed to the ground and sobbed. You cried harder than you had in your whole life. Finally mustering up the courage, you stood up and made your way over to your bed.
Your cool bed felt nice against your warm skin, and almost intently you felt yourself drift off to sleep. You barely heard the knocks on your door, nor the voices of consern. All you wanted was to sleep.
You walked through a thick forest, the sounds of creatures hummed in the background. Your body moved of its own accord, with the stealth and grace of someone ageless. A soft golden light had surrounded your body as you moved, your white dress billowing out behind you.
The eyes of the forest stared at you in awe, the trees parting to allow you access to the darkness. Once you broke free of the darkness, your eyes were met with a lake of darkness, the water rippling across a sea of black. The screech of a bird could be heard, a warning to all who entered. You cast your eyes to the sky. The sky shimmered a deep blood red which caused a shiver to run down your spin.
“Welcome home, Princess.” A voice spoke. With grace you looked in the direction of the voice. Standing not but 10 feet from you was a man. His silver hair fell below his waist, his ice colored eyes peering deep into your own.
“ I know not who you speak of, kind sir. You must be mistaken, I am no princess.” A voice that was not your own spoke from your mouth.
“Maybe not now, but once you were. A great princess of power and beauty. Bound to a human body by the great Kami himself. I shale release you from your human bonds my princess. And once again you shale rule all of demon world.” The man bowed low, his hair falling around his face. “ I shale come for you in the night my princess.”
“ I shale be waiting.” You spoke as you walked over to him. He stood up straight and smiled softly as you placed a kiss upon his fore head. “May I know your name?” You asked as you turned to walk away.
“All in due time, my princess. Before you go-” He reached out and touched your arm. A light glow surrounded you. “Until we meet again.” He smiled before vanishing.

You awoke, startled by the slamming of your door. You felt confused and dazed as someone grabbed your shoulders, bringing you to awareness.
“Onna look at me.” The voice snapped sharply causing you to look up. You blinked sheepishly as you stared into crimson eyes.
“W-What do you want?” You snapped, half heartedly shoving Hiei away from you. A look of hurt flashed through his eyes, but only for a moment.
“Hn...” with that he dissapeared. You sighed heavily, almost on the verge of tears when Yusuke walked in. He smiled gingerly at you.
“Hey.” He said as he came over and sat on the side of your bed.
“Yusuke, whats wrong with me?” You replied, managing to not look at him.
“What kind of question is that (Name)?” He poked your side, a failed attempt at making you smile.
“A simple one.”
“Oh christ (Name), nothings wrong with you.” He said, laying down on the bed next to you. He pulled you into his arms and sighed softly. “ Your just....in a whole heap of pain right now. But it will get better, I promise.”
“ How can you know that?” You looked back at him, hoping to find your answers within his brown eyes.
“Because your a strong woman, and I know that no matter what you wont just give up.” he smiled as he brushed his fingers through your hair.
“Yusuke?” You whispered.
“Yeah?”
“Something bad is going to happen. And when it does, I just want you to know that I love you. You have always been there for me. We may not have the same mother, but you have been more of a brother to me than anyone.” You leaned over and kissed Yusuke’s fore head. “ I will never forget you.”
“(Name) what are you talking about? Nothing bad-” suddenly a scream broke through the house, drawing Yusuke to his feet.
“Stay here and dont come out until i say so!” Yusuke yelled as he ran out the door.
In the back yard:
Kasara fell to the ground as a large demon hissed. His skin was a deep forest green with scales like a snake.
“I have come in the name of my lord Elron to obtain the princess. Any whom shale stand in my way will be punished by death!” The lizard demon hissed, throwing his fists into the air.
“ I can assure you we do not know of whom you speak,” Kurama stated, drawing his rose whip from his hair.
“Lady (Name), I have come for you!” The large creature bellowed. Everyone stood frozen.
“What do you want with (Name)?!” Yusuke yelled as he entered.
“ My master has sent me to retrieve the young princess so she may be released from her human bonds and rule as our queen once more!”
“Shut your yap, yah be gallout.” Another voice said. Another male exited the forest. His short black hair had been bound by a red ribbon. “The names Yumi, and we will be taken what is rightfully ours. so if you’ll excuse me-”
“You wont be going no where!” Kuabara yelled as he summoned his spirit sword.
“Hehehe, I’ve been itchen for some fun I have.” Yumi smirked as he drew out his wepon.
With you:
You stayed on your bed listening to the comotion outside. Even with all of the comotion going on, you felt an odd sence of peace wash over you. Almost as if you had been lost at sea for many years and finally found the shore. You stood up and looked out the window, noting as the mid summer day had began to fall to night as if by magic.
“Good evening my queen.” You turned ever so slightly to peer into the icy orbs of the man from your dreams.
“ Why?” Was the only question that came to your mind.
“We need you, my princess, to set right what has been wrong. I will set you free, and in return you will restore us to our former glory.” he whispered as he came over to you, placing a heavy hand upon your shoulder. “ Demon kind shale rule the wolrds once more, the way it was to be from the begining.”
“ I’m not who you think I am.” you whispered looking at your friends as they fought. The lizard demon fell with a mighty scream. You felt light headed and dizzy as your vision began to darken.
“ You do not know yet what potential you hold, young one. I shale set you free.
Back with the boys:
Kurama froze as a dark energy seeped from the temple, stretching out over the yard like tenticals. Something about this energy seemed familiar, yet chilled him to the bone.
“Yes!” Yumi yelled in triumph as he dodged an attack from Yusuke.
“Our princess has finally awoken.” The voice of a stranger spoke. A silver haired male exited the temple with you in his arms.
“Let go of her!” Yusuke yelled.
“This no longer has anything to do with you, human. The princess belongs to us, the Utaki, and soon she shale set us free.” The demon spoke as he turned his eyes to Hiei. “Many thanks to you, my demon friend. Only a broken heart could set our princess free.” With that he turned, but not without one final word.
“Kasara, you have served your masters well. You are now free.” With that, the man vanished into the darkness, Yumi close behind. All eyes then turned to Kasara, her eyes wide and frightful as the darkness dissipated, leaving nothing but the clearing.
“I-I didn’t mean to!” She cried as she jumped to her feet.
“ Where is she!?” Yusuke yelled in a panic as he closed the distance between the girl and himself.
“ I-I d-don’t know!” She backed away, but soon was pinned to a tree, a steal blade to her neck.
Hiei glared deeply at the woman whom lied at his blade. A strange mixture of pain crossed his face as he looked into her eyes as if a spell had been lifted from his vision. All patience was dissipating fast within him as he pressed his sword deeper into her skin.
“What trickery is this?” Hiei demanded.
“Hiei, I love-” she pleaded. Hiei growled like a feral animal.
“Don’t!” He ground out, throwing her away from him, only to land at Kurama’s feet. Kurama glared down at her with distaine.
“ You better start explaining.”
With you:
You awoke from your forced slumber feeling heavy. your mind had been clouded and you couldn’t help the feeling of being a small child looking for its mother. You sat up, your body feeling strange. You looked around at the cave that you had been in. It was dark, but yet homely. You lay on a soft bed made of animal skins, your fingers playing over the soft fur.
“Hello?” You called out, attempting to stand. A wave of dizziness washed over you and you stumbled back, feeling light headed.
“Good marrow my princess, I am happy to see that you are awake.” A male spoke, walking into your view. “I wouldn’t move if I were you.” He spoke softly as he kneeled next to you.
“ Where am I? Who are you?” You ran your fingers through his silver hair. A small smile crossed his face.
“You may call me Malachi, my princess, and you are home.” He took your hand within his. Then a though struck you.
“Who am I?”

“My lord, I think there may be something wrong with the princess.” Yumi said as he watched you cautiously.
“It would seem that our lady has come down with a bad case of amnesia. “ Malachi replied with a sigh as you made your way over to a nearby tree. “I am afraid this is not good. The celestial moon will be upon us soon, and I fear that the princess may not be to par by then.”
Meanwhile…
You walked forward a few feet, the feeling new to you, yet somehow familiar. The grass felt cool between your bare toes and you couldn’t help but let out a soft squeal of delight. The next was the feeling of bark beneath your fingers. The rough texture drew an odd sensation from the tips. It was rough, yet somehow pleasing to your senses.
“Malachi,” You turned, your (color) eyes burning with determination. “What is this?” You questioned with the innocence of a child.
“Hmm…Let me see.” His smile was soft and sweet as he approached you. “That, my dear, is a caterpillar.” Malachi plucked the small furry creature from your hands.
You couldn’t help but examine it with awe. “It’s so tiny!” You cried out, bending so you could get a better look at it. “Where are its momma and papa?”
“Caterpillars do not have mothers or fathers.” He said albeit sadly.
“That’s such a shame!” You gasped.
“It’s only a bug.” Yumi said with disgust as tears began to form within your eyes. You turned to him, your eyes set in a firm glare.
“Everyone deserves a mom and dad, even mean jerks like you!” You huffed, before stalking off. Yumi glared at your back.
With the boys….
“I will ask you once more Kasara, who were you working for?” The short ruler, Koenma, asked as the group sat in his office. Kasara gulped, her dark eyes shinning with fear.
“I’ve already told you everything I know! I don’t know why they wanted (name), all I know was that I was
“Yeah right!” Yusuke snorted.
“Yusuke!” Koenma started, but was soon cut off.
“Koenma, (name) is out there somewhere! This is our only lead and I’ll be damned if I will let her get away!” Yusuke yelled, jumping to his feet, his eyes burning with rage.
“This is not helping Yusuke,” Kurama said, rubbing his temples softly.
“What are we going to do!? Every second we waist with this bull shit, the farther (name) is getting away from us! I for one am not just going to sit here and wait!” Yusuke stalked out of the room.
“I’ll go after him,” Kurama sighed as he stood up and went after his friend.
In the hall, Yusuke stood at a crossroads in the hallway. He wasn’t sure what to do or how to feel. All he knew was that he had to find you. You were the closest thing he had ever had to family. True, he had his mother, but you had been there for him through everything. When he had a problem with Kayko, you were there. When he just needed someone to hold him as he cried, he always came to you. And now, well, now you were gone. It was one of his worst fear come true.
“Yusuke,”
“Don’t, Kurama, just….Don’t.” Yusuke said through gritted teeth.
“Yusuke, were going to find (name).” Kurama said, placing a hand on his shoulder.
“And what if we don’t?” “We can’t think like that. (Name) is a strong woman. We will find her.”
With you…
You yawned, forgetting why you had been previously mad. The sun shown down, beating against your face. You sat just outside the cave entrance while the boys went into the cave to discuss something you had no interest in. Suddenly your pocket began to vibrate.
“Huh?” You jumped slightly and when you reached in, a pink compact followed your hand out. You examined it before the tip popped open.
“Hello?” You said as you turned the small device around in the palm of your hand.
“(NAME)!” Someone shouted. You screamed and dropped the compact, it snapped close before you could say anything else.
Botan looked as shocked as you felt. Had she really just heard your voice!?
“I have to tell Koenma!” Botan yelled as she ran off.
You sat shocked as you stared at the offending object on the ground. Who was that, and why did they call you (name)? That wasn’t your name, was it? Of course not! Your name was….! Wait…..What was your name….
“Malachi!” You yelled, jumping to your feet you raced into the cave.
“Yes?” Malachi said as he looked up from whatever he had been writing.
“Who am I?” you questioned, tipping your head to the side.
“Why, you are the princess.” Malachi responded as if it was obvious.
“No, I mean, what is my name?” Malachi looked perplexed at this. Should he tell her the truth, or lie?
“Annabelle, of course, ”
“Really, because someone j-“
“Master, we have a problem!” Yumi screamed as he ran back into the cave.
Botan skidded to a stop in front of Koenma’s office. She threw the door open, causing the company inside to jump.
“ Don’t you ever knock!” Koenma cried out, sending paperwork flying.
“I’m sorry lord Koenma, but its (name)! I think I’ve found her!”
